Out-of-school care at Kim hung:
All of our programming at Kim Hung is Child-Lead. This means that we build our projects, crafts, and activity planning based off of what interests we see in the students at our centre.
There is always a diverse array of crafts and projects within the centre for each of our stations (block station, board game station, fine motor station, dramatic play station, arts/crafts station, etc.). Each child has a portfolio that they can use to collect projects throughout the year. We rotate toys, games, and crafts in each station so that the students can try new activities and expand their interests.
The students at Discovery Place Kim Hung are very intelligent and artistic, so we have utilised these skills and interests to create both long-form projects and short-term projects. Some of the long-form projects we have worked on in our centre includes writing, producing and performing a Christmas puppet-theatre show, and rehearsing/writing a full mock news broadcast with a Cameraman from CTV.
We like to challenge our students to try new experiences and learn unique subjects during our PD Day field trips as well. Some of our field trips have included the Muttart Conservatory, a tour at Save-on-Foods with a registered Dietitian, and seeing a theatrical performance of Robert Munsch stories.
Each day we reserve time in our schedule for the kids to be active, either outside in the schoolyard or in our school's small gym. We have a variety of gaming supplies for the kids to play soccer, hockey, badminton, or tennis in small groups, and play group games each day as well.
If you would like to register your child in our Out-of-School care program at Discovery Place Kim Hung, please contact the Site Director: Sarah Jackson (info at the top of page).

preschool at discovery place kim hung
Our preschool program provides a safe and caring environment that enhances your child's development while treating him/her as a unique individual. Our learn-through-play program aids in your child's social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional development. We play with a variety of games and toys to develop social skills and learning skills. The children explore and experiment through themed activities as well as active participation. Young children need opportunities to look, touch, hear, and move in order to air their learning.
The classroom layout is made with the child in mind through activity centres, dramatic play, and the arts. We do include free time as well as story time. This allows your child to learn new routines and skills. Parent involvement through volunteering is appreciated with our open door policy!
All children must be completely toilet trained before attending our preschool program.
Our preschool program at Discovery Place Kim Hung takes place between 9 am and 11 am, Monday to Friday. Children can either join the preschool program part-time or full-time (for prices, please refer to our Pricing page).
